Car Brake Service in Dublin – Safe, Straightforward, and Local
Your brakes are the one thing you don’t want to take chances with. Whether you’re driving around the city, on the M50, or taking longer journeys across the country, having your braking system in good shape is essential for your safety – and everyone else’s.
At Michael and Sons Auto Service in Tallaght, we offer full brake inspections, brake pad replacements, brake disc servicing, and fault diagnostics – with honest pricing and a quick turnaround. If something doesn’t feel right when you press the pedal, get it checked. You’ll be glad you did.
Common Signs Your Brakes Need Attention
You don’t need to be a car expert to know when something’s off. If you’ve noticed any of the following signs, drop into the garage for a brake check in Dublin:
- A squealing or grinding noise when braking
- Brake pedal feels soft, spongy, or goes too far down
- Car pulling to one side when braking
- Juddering or vibration under your foot
- Brake warning light showing on the dash
- Burning smell after using brakes heavily
Even if you’re not sure – we’d rather you pop in for peace of mind than ignore something serious.

What’s Included in Our Brake Service
We work with all makes and models and use quality, trusted parts. Here’s what we typically offer:
Brake Pad Replacement – Front & Rear
We’ll replace worn pads with premium replacements that match your car’s spec. We also inspect callipers and sensors.
Brake Disc Replacement
If your discs are warped, scored or too thin, we’ll fit new ones and ensure everything’s balanced and smooth.
Brake Fluid Check & Change
Brake fluid degrades over time. We check for moisture and boiling point, and flush/replace if needed.
Full Brake System Inspection
Ideal if you’re not sure what’s wrong. We check pads, discs, callipers, lines, handbrake cable and brake performance.
ABS Fault Diagnostics
Warning light on? We’ll scan your ABS system for error codes and investigate the cause.
Do You Really Need to Replace Both Sides?
Short answer – yes. In almost all cases, we replace brakes in pairs (both front or both rear), to avoid uneven braking and poor handling. We’ll never fit new pads to old discs or do a ‘half-job’ just to cut a corner. Safety first.
Brake Repairs for Dublin Drivers – No Nonsense, Just Solid Work
We’re a local Tallaght garage, not a chain or a call-centre outfit. That means:
- You can talk directly to the mechanic
- No upselling, just what’s actually needed
- Fair pricing with no surprise charges
- We explain everything in plain English
- Parts and labour are guaranteed
Our customers come from Tallaght, Clondalkin, Walkinstown, Rathfarnham, Ballymount, Crumlin and all over South and West Dublin because they know they’ll get the job done properly here.
What Local Drivers Say
Posted on Hasan AzizTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I brought my car to Michael for some major repairs—turbo, sensors, front spring, and suspension wishbones. The team was super professional, explained everything clearly, and did a great job. The car drives so much better now. Really happy with the service and would definitely recommend them!Posted on conor kellyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service highly recommend, had a 2017 Passat adaptive suspension fault and couldn’t get a mechanic that could read the code, these guys scanned it for me had the part within a week and fixed it, serviced the gearbox and went above and beyond with some extra filters I had lying around out then in for no extra charge, also got the car washed for me before giving it back, couldn’t recommend more !Posted on Jonathan ClarkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tip from the Workshop
If you’re not sure when your pads were last changed, have a look through your service records. Most brake pads last about 25,000 to 40,000 km, but that depends on how and where you drive. Stop-start city traffic wears them down faster.

Don’t put it off. If your brakes feel wrong – or it’s just time for a check – give us a call or pop by. We’ll have a look, give you an honest opinion, and if needed, sort the repair without a fuss.
